10 Summer Essentials

With summer finally knocking at the door, I've been thinking about what I need for the longs hours I clock in at the beach. Here are 10 things that will be in my canvas tote (which is the first thing on my list!) this summer!
I recently recieved a canvas tote like this from Billabong for my birthday. I love how large it is; it fits everything I need for a relxing, sunny day at the beach!
My friend introduced me to these last summer. I not only like using these to wipe of smeared mascara after getting out of the water, but they're awesome for taking off your makeup at the end of the day! I prefer the Night Calming wipes because they are EXTRA moisterizing, which is perfect for how dry skin gets after hours in the sand and salty water.

I recently discovered Issa De'Mar bikinis. Hand sewn by a hawaiian local, these are some of the cutest, and original bikinis that I've seen in a long time, reminding me of underwater corals and sea life. The cut of most of her bottoms are perfect for surfing, for they wont come off or undone as your hanging 10.

What is a day at the beach without sunscreen! Gotta protect that beautiful skin of yours.. I love Aveeno for its stick-to-your-skin quality that doesnt run as you play in the water.

My absolute, hands down, favorite chapstick for your lips. I cannot rave enough about Shaka Lakas chapstick line. It is seriously the only sun protectant that I've found so far that actually works! Im obsessed with their Pinapple flavored chapstick.

My girl Marissa Eveland, a recent PLNU grad, has developed a clothing line called Roam Hawaii that is perfect for not only hanging out in the sand, but also easily transitions to going out after a day at the beach. Here she is wearing a shrug from the line. Love the uniquness of the added hoodie!

Oh, where do I even begin on the subject of floppy hats! I LOVE THEM! I recently saw this picture of my friend Madison wearing her's from Billabong; so perfect! Floppy hats are a wonderful way to protect your face from the suns rays that make you look chic, and yet casual at the same time.

Now dont get my wrong, water is great. But Coconut water? Well, in my opinion, soo much better than regular H2O. Coconut water brags the rights to having more potassium than a banana, and hydrates more quickly, (and more tastly) than bottled water. You can be sure that you will find Coconut water in my bag all summer long.

And finally, whats a day at the beach (or any sunny day) without an amazing pair of sunglasses. My brothers girlfriend is shown here wearing Raens; such a great line of sunglasses, for most of them come polarized! Sabre also has some cute sunglasses, but not all of them are polarized, so you have to be careful.

Hope this helps you when your packing for the beach! Hope to see you out on the water or laying in the sand with plenty of sunscreen, and other means of sun protection ;)

Summer Mask

Summer is HERE! As a lifeguard, I often get super sunburned (no matter how much sunscreen I put on). My friend told me about a cooling mask that you can make with ingredients right in your fridge that she puts on after a day at the beach, which not only rehydrates the skin, but it also helps prevent wrinkles? Not so sure about that second claim, but hey. I'll do anything to help prevent further skin damage.

Ingredients:
3 grapes
1/2 an avocado
1 teaspoon of pure aloe vera.

Mask the grapes with the skin on and combine with avocado and aloe vera. Mix until creamy, apply to face, and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse, and show off that beautiful face of yours!

El Morro

Last weekend, my brother Alex, his friend John, and I got to head out at beautiful El Morro. I was able to get some pictures of the two snagging some fun waves
